Unlocking: shedding light, embracing worth, standing tall
And answers to your questions
This time last year, I began experimenting with a new idea. It would still be a while before I officially launched it, but I began sprinkling the seeds.
Since then, I’ve seen the concept unfurl, grow legs, and stand up straight. It has gone confidently in directions I didn’t expect, pulling me along with it. Whether I liked it or not, I had to do the same: stand taller, take up more space, use my voice, and own the value I have to offer. This project was the teacher I didn’t expect — pushing me forwards and challenging me, rather than the other way around.
This side of it — standing with my chin held high and embracing my worth — was harder than I expected. It’s not that I didn’t believe in what I had to offer, I did. However, believing in ourselves is one thing, while being bold enough to believe in ourselves in public feels like a much riskier game. We’re told to:
BE CONFIDENT (but appear humble)
USE YOUR VOICE (but be quiet and polite about it, and say all the right things)
BE STRONG (but not hard)
BE VULNERABLE (just the right amount to be relatable but not so much that you appear weak)
BE INTERESTING AND UNIQUE (but don’t rock the boat)
BE PRETTY (but not beautiful I mean WhoDoYouThinkYouAre)
I’d love to know, how do you deal with this conditioning?
Putting ourselves out there allows for potential rejection, judgement, abandonment, etc — fears we all struggle with at some point or another, and often exactly why clients come to me in the first place. It’s probably no wonder that I felt some resistance when it came to marketing my own work, but to show up for my clients I have to show up for myself too.
With that in mind, I’ve received lots of questions about Soul Signs lately and I’ve put off answering them — it’s hard to bottle something complex and multi-layered into a simple solution as my approach adapts and changes for every client. I’ll do my best to answer them here, but take them as a general guide rather than hard and fast rules.
*If you want me to go into more depth, just ask! I can talk endlessly about making women feel seen and heard, about how we rarely see how phenomenal we actually are, how that holds us back, about how and why women inspire me so much, etc etc… Yes, I can be a total bore about it.
What are Soul Signs?
Soul Signs are transformational portrait experiences. They’re whaa? Well, let’s start with the different elements:
Holding Space: Through one-on-one sessions, I guide you to connect more deeply to yourself and to your life story. We uncover any blocks or patterns that are holding you back, we look at your life as a whole and connect the dots. I provide guided meditations tailored to your needs and tools for you to use in your own time, to get the most out of your journey. “The sessions with Tamzin were like opening a window onto parts of myself I didn’t know existed.”
The Portrait: During the sessions together, we do a photo-shoot so that I can create a portrait of your energy, light and strength. It’s my interpretation of the feeling you give other people, as that’s not something you can see in the mirror, but when you walk into a room the whole energy shifts. My intention is that your portrait is a visual representation of that power and impact you have. You’ll have it forever as a reminder of your magnetic self, for any time it may get buried in a bit life-mess.
"Images track instantly to your brain's visual centres, bypassing conscious thought, which means the brain's filtering system can't edit them out or dismiss them. They are emotive and symbolic, inspiring energy and action in the real world." Dr Tara Swart, Neuroscientist, The Source, talking about why Vision Boards work. A Soul Sign portrait is like a vision board of your true, dazzling self.
The Story: This part is quite special for me, as it goes so far beyond the client and myself. To accompany the portrait, I write about you and your story, and I can’t express how much it means to me when someone trusts me with this. I have been asked to share some astonishing stories for my clients, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. “When Tamzin puts your story into words, you feel like a superhero. At least, I do.”
Are these available as separate offers?
Yes. Some clients come to me just for a portrait, while others want help putting their story into words, or to write up their bio for their website. Some just want the space to be heard, to gain a different perspective.
Do you offer mentoring separately?
Yes, though it wasn’t my intention at first. It naturally became part of my work through Soul Signs, and now it’s one of my favourite things to do. I offer one-off sessions or packages.
“The one-on-one sessions were incredible. Right after our calls I felt an increased sense of clarity and awareness, but also in the days that followed and even now — I'm still putting the pieces together of a lot of things we talked through.”
You say you draw energy — how? Can you see auras?
I don’t see energy, I sense it and feel it. This is something I’ve always been able to do, which I wrote a little more about over here. Then, I translate that feeling into visual art.
"So many of my friends have reached out to me to tell me how much they love how Tamzin captured me — they said it’s exactly how they see me, how they know me, and they’ve asked me how she did it.”
How long does it take?
For the one-on-one sessions, we meet four times for 1.5hrs, including the photo-shoot. You will receive your portrait about 6-8 weeks after we begin working together.
Can it be done remotely?
Yes, I’ve had my first few clients via zoom, the process and the results are the same.
However, nothing beats the in-person connection so that is my preference. I travel a lot, so you can catch me in different locations or I can travel specifically to you. We do the whole process as an immersion over a period of a few days, which is intense but powerful!
I think that’s enough for now! If you have more questions or you’d like to enquire about working together, just hit reply 😍
Tamzin x
Your work is amazing Tamzin! When you talked about your own resistance to moving forward in your strength with your project I felt the feels💕 as you were writing what was in my mind.
Then I got the feels even more when you quoted Dr Tara!!! I had just listened to her, ordered her book and referenced her in my next article. Synchronicity.
Yesterday I read an article from The Atlantic (I wanted to reference it here but couldn’t get the entire article) about scientists having discovered ripples in the structure of space-time. Learning about the images you take it made me feel like that’s part of what you are portraying - all the things we could be, all at once.
Bravo, Tamzin - wisdom and humour all tied up in one thought provoking piece, again! LOVE the bullet points - laugh out loud, but sadly all nail-on-the-head true.
