Every day I am amazed by how remarkable women are. When I listen to my clients' life stories, I am astounded each time by them and their tenacity, and yet at the same time, it isn’t at all surprising. We’ve seen it our whole lives: the grace with which women deal with adversity, hardship and discrimination.
With each Soul Sign experience I guide a woman through, I am captivated by the person I find before me, and by all of the pieces laid out in front of them of how they came to be, whole and wonderful beings. It is a privilege to sit with them and fit the pieces together like a jigsaw. When I marvel at the image it’s infectious, and they begin to see themselves through this brighter lens.
I’m just back home from a few days in Munich. I went to work with yet another extraordinary woman, to take her through an immersive Soul Sign portrait experience.
It was all that I’d hoped it would be; there were laughs, there were tears, there was a lot of talking and listening, holding space. There was time for deep reflection and meditation, as well as time for fun and empowering photo shoots, that now I get to turn into the final portrait.
For my client, doing the portrait was a celebration — a way of marking this moment in her life, when so much hard work and healing has already taken place. So often, we jump to the next thing without taking the time to acknowledge the struggles we’ve surmounted, to honour all that came before. In that honouring comes a release, a deep sense of validation. Recognising the challenges you’ve overcome and giving yourself the credit you deserve for that also liberates you from those challenges.
I love that I get to facilitate all of this for someone, that I get to be part of it. This work is not always straightforward, but it’s a gift that I’ll never take for granted. I find it fulfilling and joyful and challenging and worthwhile, all in equal measure.
I’m not only grateful to my clients for trusting me, but also to myself, as without self-trust I never would have embarked on this venture. I had an idea of what I wanted to accomplish: show people how special they are through a visual portrait of their energy, and share their stories with the world to allow us all to connect a little deeper — connection, understanding and empathy are the enemies of judgement and prejudice (my mission and reasons for this work go a lot deeper which I won’t go into now, but you can read some of them here if you like). But to see the knock-on effect of Soul Signs is something else entirely, it touches on levels I couldn’t have imagined when the idea first dropped into my mind.
So if there’s something you want to do but self-doubt is holding you back, please don’t let it. Kindly tell it where to go. Persevere, believe in yourself and your vision. Respond to this email or comment on the post about it, as a first step in taking action towards who you want to be, or what you’d like to do.
If you’d like to see yourself through that brighter lens, or feel that some pieces of your life have got a little dusty from neglect, you can get in touch with me and we can look at doing the jigsaw together.
